His name is Muhammad Am__, and I met him while I was traveling by train on my way to Cholistan. I was sleeping on the upper berth, while he was on the lower berth. One of the brothers traveling with me woke me up because he needed to sleep, and there was also a sister with us who needed to use the berth. So, Muhammad Am__ and I sat facing each other on the seats, and our conversation began.
I asked him, “What do you do?” He told me that he works with iron in Lahore and lives near Sangla Hill, which is in the direction where I was traveling. When he sat down with me, I could see that he was extremely tired and going through a difficult time.
At that moment, I felt that the Holy Spirit was putting a specific Scripture on my heart to share with him. I told him the words of Jesus:
“Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28
I shared this Scripture with him and then asked, “You are working so hard and going through so many difficulties in this life, but what preparation are you making for heaven?”
He told me that life was very difficult, his work was extremely hard, and he was currently struggling physically as well. He had developed malaria fever and was going back to his hometown to rest and recover.
As we continued talking, I told him, “If you want to go to heaven, look at how much people work and struggle for the things of this world. But very few people think about preparing for heaven. If you give me an opportunity, I can show you the direct way to heaven.”
He said, “Yes, please tell me.”
Then I shared the Gospel with him. I told him about John 3:16: “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
I explained that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came into this world because of our sins—to set us free from sin. I shared with him that all of us are sinners and explained how sin entered the world through Adam.
Then I shared the complete message of Christ with him: that God loves him and loves us, and because of His great love, He sent Jesus Christ into the world. Jesus gave His life on the cross for our sins, died, was buried, and rose again from the dead on the third day. He then ascended into heaven.
As I finished sharing the Good News, something beautiful happened. Muhammad Am__ suddenly became very joyful. He said, “As I was listening to you, joy came into my heart. I was feeling extremely tired, but while I was talking with you and listening to what you were sharing about the Son of God, I began to feel different.”
I asked him, “Do you understand what I am sharing with you?” He said, “Yes, I understand. I understand that Jesus is the Son of God.”
Then I asked him, “Since you have experienced this joy in your heart, would you like to put your faith in Christ and accept Him?”
He asked, “What do I have to do?”
I told him that he needed to confess his sins and put his faith in Jesus Christ. He said, “Yes, I want to.”
Then he repeated after me, confessing Jesus Christ as Lord and believing the Good News. He confessed that he was a sinner and prayed with me, asking God to forgive his sins.
At that moment, I was amazed and deeply thankful to God. I had never personally shared Matthew 11:28 with another person in this particular way, but the Holy Spirit specifically placed those words on my heart for Muhammad Am__. It was as if God had prepared that Scripture especially for him in his moment of exhaustion and difficulty.
I thank the Lord for Muhammad Am__ and for what He has begun in his life. He is currently in his hometown, and we hope that he will return soon to continue working in Lahore. He has also promised that he wants to learn more about Jesus and the Word of God.
I told him that we can meet once a week and continue learning about God and His Word together.
Please keep Muhammad Am__ in your prayers, that the seed of the Gospel that has been planted in his heart will remain, grow, and bear fruit, and that he will continue to grow in faith and in the knowledge of Jesus Christ. Amen.
